Vibha Charitable Trust was established by Dr. Vishuvardhana and Dr. Bharathi Vishuvardhan in 2009 to channelize Dr. Vishnuvardhana’s socially relevant activities. After the sad demise of Dr. Vishuvardhana, Dr. Bharathi Vishuvardhan and Ms. Keerthi S. Kumar took lead in continuing the good work started by the legendary actor, Dr. Vishuvardhana. .

The focus of all the activities of Vibha Charitable Trust is on two primary components – Film and film music related programmes and socially relevant programmes which are conducted on the birth and death anniversaries of Dr. Vishnuvardhana on 18th September and 30th December.

‘Simhavalokana: a Retrospective of Dr. Vishuvardhana’s films

The Festival was inaugurated by Mrs. Nagalakshmi Puttanna Kanagal on 17 September. The inaugural function was attended by many film dignitaries and political leaders. A number of celebrities that included directors, producers, actors and actresses who have a long association with Dr. Vishnuvardhana watched the movies with Dr. Vishnuvardhana’s fans and shared their experiences of working with him with them. They were felicitated by presenting them a radium statue of Dr. Vishnuvardhana. These celebrities included Rajendra Singh Babu, Nathihalli Chandrashekar, T. Nagabharana, S. Narayana, Shobharaj, Bhargava, Vijaykumar, Jayanthi, Jayamala, Master Anand and others.

Socially relevant activities at Abhimana studio

Blood donation and eye donation camps were organized in association with Rotary Club and Halappa Foundation at Abhimana Studio where his last rites were performed. More than 300 individuals donated their blood and filled forms for eye donations. Thousand saplings were distributed as a part of the ‘Hasiru Usiru campaign’ along with Srishti, a non-governmental organization.

On 30th December 2010, his first death anniversary thousands of his fans had organized walkathon from National College Basavangudi to Abhimana studio tracking the path of Dr. Vishnuvardhana’s last journey.
Heart checkups and free heart surgeries were organized on the occasion along with blood donation camps and eye donation camps.
Fans also collected seven tons of grains – rice, lentils, wheat etc. and donated to Milana, a Bangalore-based non-governmental organization to distribute among HIV affected and infected families.
In a spectacular show Dr. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan released 1000 balloons in the air and two huge air balloons were displayed at Abhimana studio giving message of love to Dr. Vishnuvardhana.
Dr. Vishnuvardhana’s fans had organized free meals to all visitors in memory of Dr. Vishnuvardhana.
All activities were undertaken under the able leadership of Dr. Bharathi Vishuvardhana.

‘Activities related to cinema:Dr.Vishnuvardhana Memorial Lecture

Recognising the critical role cinema plays in people’s growth, the Trust felt that it is important to educate the cinema lovers on understanding and appreciating cinema through discourses, training programs and competitions. It therefore initiated the activities with a instituting a memorial lecture series in the memory of Dr.Vishnuvardhana as a part of his birthday celebrations every year.

An exhibition of more than 600 photographs of Dr.Vishnuvardhanashowcasing his professional and personal journey was organised on 16, 17 and 18 at Karnataka ChitrakalaParishad. Ace still photographer Shri. K.G. Somashekhar inaugurated the exhibition which had some rare photographs of Dr.Vishnuvardhana.

Celebrating 40 years of Nagarhavu

Nagarhavu, Dr. Vishnuvardhana’s debut movie in the leas completed 40 years on 29 December 2012. The movie is considered as a milestone in Dr. Vishnuvardhana’s film career as it marked his entry with a bang and gave him recognition as the angry young man of the Kannada Film Industry.

Socially relevant activities

The trust conducted various activities in association of various fans clubs, individuals, social clubs such as Rotary International, Lions club and NarayanaHridayalaya and NGOsat AbhimanaStudio, Bangalore on 18thSeptember and 30th December (Dr.Vishnuvardhana’s birth and death anniversaries).

Future plans

The trust wishes to take the initiatives forward and conduct the following programs
1. Film Appreciation Course
2. Workshop and competition on Short and Documentary Movie Making at the international level
3. Interaction programs with well-known film makers and technicians at the regional or national / international level
4. Free health checkup camps
